CWC Teaches Students at Landon School
Construction is in full swing on the Landon School campus in Bethesda, MD
This multi-phase project encompasses a lot. So far, we have reconfigured the school’s entrance, moved the historic Andrews House, began renovating the existing Middle School, and topped out construction on the new Boehly Upper School building.
Amid all the activity on campus, members of the CWC project team took off their hard hats and spent some time inside Landon’s classrooms to pass along construction knowledge to students.

Using STEM Concepts in Construction
Project Engineer Luca Imperiale and Assistant Project Manager Woody Crosby presented to a 7th-grade math class, demonstrating the relationship between construction and mathematics. They explained how construction workers use scaling and unit conversions on drawings and various other situations on a job site. Students were asked to calculate the correct amount of chain-link fence to order based on the scaling used in the drawings.
Woody and Superintendent Alex Bruhn presented to an Upper School environmental science class about sediment erosion control, stormwater management, and their crucial role in a construction project. After their presentation, they took the class for a site tour around the project to further demonstrate these concepts.

“We were happy to have the opportunity to engage with the Landon students and give them a glimpse into construction. Our goal was to show them real-world applications of what they’re learning in class and get them excited about different career paths in the industry by walking them through what we do on a daily basis,” said Woody.
The Landon project team works hard alongside CGS Architects and Capital Projects Management Firm (Owner’s Rep) to complete construction this summer, transforming areas of the campus into a more pedestrian-friendly academic quad with upgraded facilities for Landon students to learn.
