CWC Headquarters Wins ABC Excellence in Construction Award
& So We Build
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) partners excitedly announced the lease renewal and interior renovation of our corporate headquarters offices at 7475 Wisconsin Avenue in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. Leading the 8th and 9th floor renovations were our very own inte group project team: Project Manager, Patrick Myers, and Superintendent, Bill Updike. Vice President, Sherry Kissal, worked closely with top DC architect firm, FOX Architects, on the design of our new space which aimed to incorporate our brand’s recent refresh and to reflect our core values.
The two-floor renovation includes 10 touchdown spaces with new conference rooms, huddle rooms, a multi-purpose room, lounge spaces, glass front offices, open office areas, storage rooms, pantries, and copy spaces. In addition to a finish refresh and more areas for collaboration, there are improved department adjacencies.
Our Work is Essential
The renovation went full-steam-ahead when coronavirus put a halt to regular life as we know it. The construction industry was deemed an essential business by the US Federal Government. The CWC partners and safety team promptly implemented CDC’s guidelines to keep our employees safe and working. With essential projects still under construction such as base building project, Kite TCF05 Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility, and interiors project, Thermo Fisher Scientific, CWC identified a rare opportunity. Office employees were following the shelter-in-place orders and were working remotely. This gave the renovation team a chance to accelerate the five-phase interior project construction schedule in the unoccupied space. The goal was to have the new space complete for our employees to enjoy once it was time to return to the office.
A Special Thanks
CWC wants to give a special thanks to the Culture & Vision Committee: Sherri Carson, Sean Coakley, Anai Limber, Pat McCrary, and Martha McDade for executing the conference room naming, wall graphics, and new recycling and open office etiquette policies. The newly renovated space is enjoyed by all and proudly received the ABC Metro Washington Excellence in Construction Award.
