Pat Caulfield was a freshman at the University of Maryland when he walked onto a construction project looking for a job to pay his tuition. After working his way through college as a laborer, heavy equipment grade foreman, ironworker, and welder, he chose construction as a career. Pat joined us in early 1977 as a Superintendent. As a natural born leader, he took over in 1985 with his friend and fellow colleague Terry Coakley and founded Coakley & Williams Construction Inc. Under their leadership, the company grew from modest revenues of $3.2 million to being a perennial ENR Top 400 company within eight years. Pat served as President of the firm for over 35 years until his retirement at the end of 2024.
