The Potomac School's Spangler Center Opens
We celebrated the grand opening of The Potomac School's new athletic center, the Spangler Center, with representatives from CannonDesign, Clark Construction and all of the school’s generous donors.
The Spangler Center is a 70,000 sf athletic building with two stories. It consists of four basketball courts with one main feature court and an indoor running track which circulates around the gym from the second floor. The center also includes new locker rooms and bathrooms on the first level, as well as seven new competition squash courts.
Glue-laminated timbers and columns are present throughout the architecture of the space - in the 150 ft pedestrian bridge, exterior columns and interior columns around the basketball court - in order to bring in the nature of the surrounding woods. The second floor features a weight room, fitness center and multipurpose studio which cantilevers out looking into the forest.
Outstanding work from our subcontractors and CWC project team: Greg Harraka, Blake Clancy, Eddie Rupp, Bill Updike, Jeff Gray, Rudy Crespo, Marcos Perez Villar, Todd Povell, Jacob Zalewski, Ron Spriggs, Rian Hagerich, Glenn Foster, Ronnie Long, Corey Murphy and Ada Contreras. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to successfully deliver this project to The Potomac School’s community.
