CWC Partner Bill Simons Retires After 28 Years | Watch Video

Happy Retirement, Bill!

We began 2024 by hosting an all-company meeting where we took some time to recognize our employees. Among these recognitions, we celebrated Bill Simons’ retirement. Bill joined CWC in 1996 and, since his arrival, has worked on hundreds of projects across different sectors. These included Congressional Country Club, SMECO, Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Preble Hall Museum, and several more.

Most recently, he oversaw CWC’s robust Public sector, delivering impactful projects to the community, such as Smothers Elementary School, Southern Area Aquatics & Recreation Complex, and St. Elizabeth’s East Men’s Shelter.

Building People and Communities

Bill was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” by the DC Chapter of Catholic Business Network in 2022

In addition to his diligent contributions to our award-winning projects, Bill was a mentor to several employees and was an active member of the industry and community. In 2022, he was recognized as “Volunteer of the Year” by Catholic Business Network’s DC Chapter for his tireless work with the Consortium of Catholic Academies (CCA), an organization that provides resources and support to students at four inner-city schools.

Bill previously served as the Chairman of the Board for ABC Chesapeake Shores in 2014, continuing CWC’s longstanding relationship with the regional ABC Chapters. Additionally, he served for several other organizations, including the Maryland Governor’s Workforce Development Board, ABC Chesapeake Trust, and the Phelps School Committee.

Leaving a Legacy

In a tribute to Bill, current Public Business Unit Leader & Partner Baboucarr Cham expressed his appreciation for Bill’s guidance over the years: “You are a tremendous leader, tremendous mentor, and now I get to call you a tremendous friend. Bill, we sincerely appreciate everything you have done for us.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by dozens of other employees from various departments. In his farewell speech, Bill spoke highly of his experience with the company and excitement for the future: “Coakley & Williams Construction is not just a company. It’s people…it’s builders. It has been my deep pleasure to have been a small part of its legacy. It is a bright future ahead.”
