AC Hotel by Marriott Wins ABC Excellence in Construction Award | Bethesda, MD

The 220-guestroom Hotel is adjacent to and shares amenities with Avocet Tower, a 370,000 SF trophy-Class office building.

Downtown Bethesda is Building Up

We're thrilled to share that the AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Bethesda, MD has won the prestigious ABC Chesapeake Shores Chapter Excellence in Construction Award. This award recognizes the project team’s outstanding work and dedication in bringing the AC Hotel project to life with project partners OTO Development (Owner), Cooper Carry (Architect/Interior Design), and Balfour Beatty (Base Building Contractor).

Curated artwork was sourced from Kalisher and Material Driven.

Designed as an Inclusive Space to Work, Meet, and Socialize

One of the main attractions of the AC Hotel is the ground-floor "hub"- designed as an inclusive work/meet/socialize space centered around all-day food and beverage. We were so excited to celebrate our company holiday party in the very space that our team and partners built! (See why CWC was voted Washington Business Journal’s Best Place to Work 2023.)

Coakley & Williams Construction was selected for the construction of the 18-story, 220-guestroom AC Hotel home-away-from-home which features a modern, transit-oriented design ideal in a thriving urban center near the nation’s capital. The construction includes European-inspired architectural elements and finishes with flexible open spaces, a media salon, library, hotel concierge, state-of-the-art fitness center with yoga and spin studios, offices, multi-use conference center, meeting rooms, and Corella Café & Lounge - a signature restaurant serving everything from locally roasted morning coffee to late-night bites and creative cocktails. Breathtaking panoramic views of Downtown Bethesda can be seen from the eighteenth-floor terraces, as well as the skylines to multiple surrounding cities, including Silver Spring, Washington DC, and Tysons Corner.

Please join us in congratulating the entire project team including Ed Deegan, Alex Gandal, Bridgett Redding, Scott Miller, David Woodyard, Jose Claros, Richard Grant, Judy Panbach, Wayne Tobiassen, and Pat McCrary for the excellent execution of this Bethesda addition!

Project team members Ed Deegan and Bridgett Redding accepted the ABC Chesapeake Shores Chapter Excellence in Construction Award at the ceremony at the Hotel Preserve Arundel Mills.
